Fallon Walsh, Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate
From an early age, I was drawn to understanding the human mind and its complexities. Growing up with a background of 18 years of dance experience and my education, I have witnessed the profound impact that creative expression and therapy can have on individuals. The power of counseling to provide guidance alongside the potential to foster emotional and physical well being through dance has helped me decide to pursue this path. Combining my passion for dance and love for mental health advocacy, I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate their unique journeys and discover their inner strengths.
I received my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Dance/Movement therapy from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. During my education, I had the privilege of working at the Perkins School for the blind in Watertown, Massachusetts helping assist dance movement therapy group counseling sessions for children. I also had the opportunity to work as an elementary school counselor in Dorchester, MA. During my time there, I gained experience and knowledge in play therapy with children. Through conducting play therapy sessions, I built trusting relationships with students and gained insight into their emotions, challenges, and developmental needs. Incorporating Dance and Play into my sessions taught me that children often communicate their thoughts and feelings most effectively through play rather than words. Since children often lack the verbal or abstract skills to process complex feelings, their choice of toys, narratives, and drawing act as their words. I found great fulfillment in helping them process difficult experiences in a way that felt safe and natural.
I draw on my background of dance and play to integrate talk therapy, mindfulness, and movement to create an embodied therapy experience. My approach is rooted in humanistic principles, emphasizing the importance of self-acceptance, personal growth, and authentic connections. I plan to meet the clients where they are and work together as a team to regain connection between their mind and body so that they can feel comfortable within themselves to overcome life's obstacles. I am devoted to providing a supportive and empathetic environment where clients feel valued and understood. I look forward to meeting and working with you!
