Chelsea Dufault
Associate Licensed Mental Health Counselor

My educational journey in psychology and counseling has been shaped by a deep passion for understanding and helping others navigate their journey toward healing. I received my B.S. in Psychology in 2022 and my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2024, both from Johnson & Wales University. As someone with a deep sense of empathy and an understanding of how overwhelming emotions can be, I felt very drawn to the counseling profession.

In my first year of being a therapist, it stood out to me that there was a common theme among my caseload: my first few clients were navigating the emotional rollercoaster of divorce or separation. Some were newly separated, others were in the midst of their divorce proceedings, and many were struggling with the difficult decision of whether or not to pursue it. I quickly found myself drawn to the complexity of their experiences - the grief, the uncertainty, the rebuilding - and I felt a sense of fulfillment in helping them navigate this difficult chapter of their lives.

What started as a few coincidental cases soon became a passion for supporting individuals through divorce and relationship transitions. It became clear to me that divorce is not just an event, it's a profound shift in identity, family dynamics, and life plans. Over time, I gained confidence in the fact that I could make a lasting impact by focusing on divorce recovery and relationship transitions.

I found myself taking an approach centered around self-discovery and personal empowerment. Divorce is often seen as the end of something, but I believe it can also be a powerful beginning. Too often, people get caught up in focusing only on the emotional pain or the logistical challenges of separation. While these are important aspects of the process, I think it’s important to also take it a step further.

I help clients shift their focus from what’s ending to what’s possible. I believe that after divorce, the person you are becoming is just as important - if not more important - than who you were before. I work with clients to explore their identity, passions, and dreams outside of the context of their former relationship. Through this journey of self-discovery, we can create a roadmap to a new life - one that considers the lessons of the past while embracing the freedom and possibility of the future.
